About

I am Gonçalo, born in 1991 in Lisbon, Portugal, and I craft multimedia artworks, photographs, and installations that are much more than mere visual experiences.

My primary medium, photography, is not just a tool for me; it's a gateway to capturing and freezing moments in time. However, I don't confine myself within the label of a photographer. Instead, I employ photography as a means to explore and express deeper reflections on humanity. My works delve into the complexities of human existence, focusing on themes of alienation and divergence. I am intrigued by the variances within humanity – those points of divergence that define and differentiate our experiences. These themes recur in my creations, whether I'm capturing the intricate details of an individual or observing humanity from a broader, more macro perspective. In my art, the mundane transforms into the extraordinary. I am constantly inspired by my everyday experiences, using them as a foundation for my pieces. These are often moments that would typically go unnoticed, yet through my lens, they become significant – a commentary on the overlooked aspects of daily life. With a conceptual approach, my intention is to capture and manipulate language, transforming it into a form of art where it serves not just for communication, but as an ornament that enhances the depth and meaning of my work. My art, therefore, is not just a visual experience but a linguistic journey as well.As I continue to evolve and experiment in my artistic journey, my goal remains to challenge perceptions and invite viewers to question and explore the complexities of our collective human experience.
